Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster Cary Dec 7th

Fender Nashville TelecasterWhile we’re on the subject of dream guitars

If you’re a big Tele fan like me, but not such a big fan of the Telecaster’s general lack of versatility (I played one for years, and felt that this was it’s one shortcoming,) you might be interested to know that you do have options, and one of the better ones is the Fender Deluxe Nashville Telecaster.

What sets the Nashville apart is that you get all of the built-like-a-brick backbone that you’ve come to expect from a Tele, but with a spicy little Tex-Mex Strat pickup between the two traditional Tex-Mex Tele pickups — that’s right, a 3-pickup Tele.

Add in 5-way pickup switching (Fender calls it “Strat-o-Tone” switching,) and you’ve got a truly versatile Telecaster that packs a whole lot of punch.

The Fender Deluxe Series Nashville Telecaster Features-

  • Alder Body
  • One-Piece Maple Neck
  • Maple or Rosewood Fingerboard
  • 21 Medium-Jumbo Frets
  • 2 Tex Mex Tele Pickups, 1 Tex Mex Strat Pickup
  • 5-way “Strat-O-Tone” Pickup Switching
  • U.S. Vintage String-Thru-Body Bridge
  • Brown Shell Pickguard
  • Master Volume and Tone Controls
  • Vintage Style Tuning Heads

With a modern “C” shaped neck that’s great for quick and tight picking, and of course the extra versatility of a Strat pickup thrown into the mix, the Deluxe Nashville Tele is an easy guitar to recommend. Great looking, and very reasonably priced to boot.

I have the Nashville Deluxe Power Tele (includes the piezo acoustic bridge). I am blown away by the versatility of this guitar and bring to gigs more often than any other guitar I own. Why? With this guitar, I can leave my Taylor and my strat home and bring two more Gibsons! Having a Tele that can also get that “in-between” strat tone (bridge/middle) is a great feature. The front pickup isn’t exactly SRV-ish, but it’s ok. And slam in that tele bridge pickup and the Keith Richards tone is there! For switching between acoustic and electric tones in the same song, the dual knob setup is intuitive and easy. This is no vintage classic but it is an effective and versatile on-stage tool.

I’ve owned many different Teles over 4 decades, both Fender and custom built and this is THE ultimate Tele. Especially for those like me who also love Strats and so lug two guitars around to the gig. (Actually, three including an acoustic) This axe can do it all and is a “must have” for Fender fanatics. Sell your “Whatevercaster” if you have to, it’s that good! Even the acoustic sound is “good enough” for most live work…. It’s a great pro picker “tool”!!!

PS I hate the name. This axe is no wimpy “Nashville” sounding guitar, this baby is too hot! I like “Bakersfield Power Tele” much better!!! (Bet Don Rich would agree…)
