According to their website, Squier has introduced a new Strat to their lineup of low-cost beginner’s guitars, the Squier Hello Kitty Strat. And nope, that’s not just a picture of Hello Kitty printed on the front, that’s a custom Hello Kitty pickguard! Nice touch…
I also dig that super-fat (phat!) ’60s Strat headstock, and the rather simple features of this guitar: a single humbucker at the bridge, a single volume knob. While I personally find the simplicity kind of refreshing, it does seem a bit politically incorrect – I mean, does Squier (Fender) really think their “girl” guitar needs to be dumbed-down? That said, it looks like a fun guitar.
Squier’s Hello Kitty Stratocaster is expected to feature an agathis body (that’s part of how they keep costs down,) a maple neck and Fretboard (22 frets,) single humbucker pickup, single volume control, Hello Kitty pickguard, chrome hardware, Hello Kitty Logo on back, Pink Or Black dot inlays (depending on finish,) and an oversized ‘60s style headstock.
