Gibson introduced a whopping 15 new guitars at NAMM this year, and at the top of the list were a number of instruments aimed squarely at the female guitarists out there.
To their credit, Gibson doesn’t seem to have scrimped on these beauties, and for the most part you get a lighter, smaller, and easier-to-handle version of the standard Gibson classics they’re based on.
Take the new Les Paul Vixen – it’s got the smooth but throaty 490R & 498T humbuckers that give its brethren so much of their famous tone, but in this case these powerhouse pickups are wired into a lighter-weight, and significantly slimmer mahogany body, presumably making for an instrument with all the power of a Les Paul, but built for the female form.
