Holy crud… I don’t usually cover basses on EGR, but hey, it’s not every day that a little piece of guitar history gets resurrected…
That’s right, Danelectro’s much loved (and much maligned – yeah, kind of like an old VW Beetle) Longhorn Bass is back in production, and now it’s apparently got two siblings: the baritone & six-string guitar versions.
While there’s not a whole lot of info out there yet about the new Longhorns (I’ll keep digging around,) according to Danelectro’s rather bare-bones website the guitars will only be available in limited quantities, and all three will sport new professional-grade hardware and “beefed up” lipstick pickups.
Haha, if you want a guitar with a truly “singular” style and tone, this is the one for you – it’s made of plywood for gawd’s sake!
The Danelectro Longhorn Bass will feature a hardboard top and bottom, a plywood frame, neck of maple, a rosewood fretboard with 24 frets, and a pair of lipstick pickups.
And it comes in your choice of either “Deep Blue Pearl” or “Black/White Pearl Burst.” Both have a lovely vintage look…
