Vox Tonelabse Signal ProcessorWow… I was perusing VOX’s website today when I came across their mega-amplifier-modeler/effects-box, the Valvetronix ToneLabSE. As far as I can tell this thing offers an obscene amount of customization for both the tube-amp purist and digital effects lover alike.

So what exactly sets it apart? Well, according to VOX the ToneLabSE sports a 12AX7/ECC83 dual triode tube, which along with a true tube power amp circuit, and a number of virtual bells and whistles, allows it to faithfully recreate the tonal qualities of sixteen different VOX amp heads, and eleven classic VOX cabinets.

Nice…

On top of its tube-amp modeler, the ToneLabSE provides a whopping 50 guitar effects, including, among other things, 11 different delays and 16 stomp-box type effects. It’s also got two “assignable expression pedals” which allow you to control the effects in different ways, including modulation rates, depth, wah and more.

Other Features Include–

  • 11 Modulation-Type Effects, 11 Reverb Effects, And Even Noise Reduction
  • Built-In Digital Chromatic Tuner [you can mute it too!]
  • 20-bit Digital to Analog & Analog to Digital Conversion
  • 44.1KHz Sampling
  • 96 Programs
  • Dedicated Software For Sound Editing On Your Computer
  • Dimensions: 27.95“(W) x 9.8”(D)x 2.99“(H)

And the whole thing is mounted into a metal chassis, so if it’s anything like other VOX products I’ve used, the ToneLabSE should be able to take a beating without petering out on you.

Looks like some serious fun… can’t wait to put one of these through its paces.
