Gibson SG Standard Vintage Original Spec-1Somebody Pinch Me!

What can I say? For an old-school SG fan like myself, news that Gibson will be producing the SG Standard Vintage Original Spec With Maestro is absolutely drool-inducing… it’s got style, grace, and presumably a whole lot of humbucking power.

Based on Gibson’s early, and now utterly classic SG, this new SG Standard will sport the incredibly-badassed Maestro Vibrato Tailpiece, a pair of ‘57 classic humbucker pickups, and that 1960s slim-taper neck — a feature that has undoubtedly played a large part in making true vintage SGs so incredibly easy on the fingers.

In fact, if you’ve never had the pleasure to play a Gibson SG from the 60s, well, you just don’t know what you’ve been missing.

The Gibson SG Standard VOS with Maestro Features—

  • Mahogany Body
  • Mahogany 1960s Slim-Taper Neck
  • Rosewood Fingerboard With 22 Frets
  • Dual ‘57 Classic Humbuckers
  • Two Each Volume & Tone Controls
  • 3-Way Pickup Switching
  • Vintage Maestro Vibrato
  • Vintage “Tulip” Machine Heads
  • Single-Ply Cream Binding
  • Trapezoid Fingerboard Inlays

The SG Standard VOS with Maestro will also come with a few extra goodies (as it should at this price-point) like a Custom Shop hard-shell case, a certificate of authenticity, and even a care kit to help you keep your six-string in tip-top shape.
