While we’re on the subject of Gretsch, check out this cool sunburst edition of their Electromatic Junior Jet II… Now, I’ve been coveting the classic – but incredibly pricey – Duo Jet for many, many years, but with the introduction of Gretsch’s less-expensive Electromatic line I’m starting to seriously reconsider my priorities.
Now, it goes without saying that the Junior Jet II, which sells for less than $300, isn’t going to be built to the same quality standards as the $2,000 Duo Jet, but that said, it does look like a really fun, and seriously stylin’ instrument.
Among other things it sports a pair of Gretsch’s twang-inducing mini humbucker pickups, a solid mahogany body adjustable truss rod (a must on cheaper instruments!) and that super cool tobacco sunburst finish (also comes in transparent black.)
The Gretsch Electromatic Junior Jet II Features–
- Mahogany Body
- Maple Neck (bolt-on)
- Rosewood Fingerboard With 22 Frets
- Dual Gretsch Mini-Humbuckers
- Master Volume & Tone Controls
- 3-Way Pickup Switching
- Vintage Style Tuners
- Compensated Wrap-Around Bridge
- Adjustable Truss-Rod
- Gretsch “G”-Arrow Knobs
If you’re interested in getting into a Gretsch on the cheap, perhaps even as a precursor to one of their more expensive models, the Electromatic Junior Jet II may be a good jumping-off point.
