High-Tech Hybrid: Kustom’s WAV 212 Combo Cary May 8th

Kustom WAV 212 Combo Guitar AmplifierDigital/Tube/Solid-State Hybrid

Wow, here’s a really intriguing amplifier — it’s Kustom’s WAV 212 Combo, an amp that turns guitar amplification on its head by mixing up old-school vacuum tubes, solid-state circuitry, and even digital sound processing into what’s presumably a highly versatile piece of audio machinery.

According to Kustom, the WAV 212 skips amp-modeling all together, and instead offers four individual & distinct tube pre-amps for heavy duty lead work, plus a solid-state rhythm pre-amp — that’s five separate pre-amps in one amplifier!

On top of that it sports a whopping 45 digital effects (in stereo no less,) and four programmable effects set-ups for each channel, meaning if this thing doesn’t provide enough customization for you, well… you might want to just throw in the towel.

The WAV 212 pumps 130 watts of power through a pair of 12” Celestion speakers, and the whole unit is packed into an 11-ply hardwood cabinet (27-1/2” W x 21-1/4” H x 11” D), that weighs in at a reasonable 56lbs.

On-Board Stereo Digital Effects Include: fifteen delays, fifteen reverbs, and fifteen modulation-type effects, including chorus, flange and even a Leslie Rotating Speaker effect.
