Sure enough, Gretsch has announced a whole new line of affordable Electromatic Hollowbodies for those of you looking to get in on that classic Gretsch tone & style without having to go hungry. Like its predecessor, the new Electromatic Hollow Body looks to be pure old-school rock & roll, at a surprisingly old-school price.
I’m not sure how they get away with selling these so cheap (though I’m guessing the laminated top is probably part of it,) but it’s a well needed change from the old days — not so long ago — when the price of a Gretsch Hollowbody could literally leave you clutching your heart.
Among other things, the new Hollowbodies will sport a pair of DeArmond single-coils, a Bigsby B60 Vibrato, top, back and fretboard binding, and those super-cool pearloid “Gretsch” & “Electromatic” headstock inlays.
The Gretsch Electromatic Hollow Body Will Feature—
- Laminated Maple Top, Back & Sides
- Laminated Maple Neck
- Rosewood Fingerboard With 22 Frets
- Dual DeArmond Single-Coil Pickups
- Master Volume & Tone Controls
- Individual Volume Controls
- 3-Way Pickup Switching
- Authentic Bigsby B60 Vibrato Tailpiece
- Bigsby Compensated Bridge
- Adjustable Truss-Rod
- Vintage Style Tuners
The new Electromatic Hollowbody will come in a number of finishes, all with individual model numbers (G5125, G5126, G5127, G5128, G5129,) but my favorite is without a doubt the G5127, which sports a stylin’ powder blue top, with black back & sides.

I bought this guitar in black, and i am certainly not dissapointed! Great guitar for the money, and VERY good lookin’! As all of us don’t have the money to get a Nashvillan, or a Setzer Hotrod, this makes well up for it!
