Worshiping At The Shrine Of Hendrix: Marshall Unveils Super 100JH Cary Jun 22nd

Jimi Hendrix 100Jh Marshall AmplifierWhether into ’60s rock or not, I don’t think there’s a guitarist out there who doesn’t have just a little bit of Hendrix-envy. I mean, to make a guitar sing like that you have to dedicate yourself totally to the instrument — a sacrifice most of us will never be able to make.

But while you may never be able to play like Hendrix, you can get a little closer to recreating his legendary sound with Marshall’s new Limited Edition Hand-Wired Super 100JH.

According to Marshall, the Super 100JH was built to meticulously recreate the all-tube, 100 watt “Super 100” amp heads that Jimi used to craft his incredible sound.

In order to make the Super 100JH identical to the 1966, 100-Watt heads Jimi Hendrix used, the circuit, cosmetics, construction, sound and all-important dynamic characteristics have to be 100% correct - and they are.

The amp is apparently fairly straightforward — as would be expected for the time period — sporting two channels (High Treble & Normal,) with each channel having a pair of inputs (High & Low sensitivity) and separate volume knobs. The two channels also share Presence, Treble, Middle, and Bass controls.

That’s right — none of the conveniences, nor annoyances, of modern amplifiers. Of course, it wouldn’t be a Marshall stack without a couple of mammoth cabinets.

The dual 100 watt stackable cabinets feature four 12-inch Celestion G12C speakers each, and are built of high grade Baltic Birch-ply with finger-locked joints. They’re decked out with leather handles, white piping, gold beading, and a pin-striped grille cloth in order to recreate the aesthetics of the originals.

The Marshall Hand-Wired Super 100JH is being produced in a limited edition of just 600 units.

This is a lovely setup to own, mine turned up while i was at work and it was a fight to stop myself leaving early…

Such a warm tone but when driven it just blows you away!

These were built allmost completely as a copy to the ex-hendrix amp owned by Rich Dickinson in the UK, s/n 7026 and was used at Monterey among other of his earliest tours.

Truly a great sounding setup, Thankyou MARSHALL!!
