Back in the early to mid ’60s Italy’s EKO musical instrument company made some of the grooviest guitars around, and was apparently also one of the largest exporters of guitars to the US.
EKO’s Mod 500 — the guitar model the company is best known for — came in four configurations, boasting from one to four low-output ‘double polarity’ pickups. It also featured a host of sliding tone switches, a tremolo tailpiece, and of course that amazing ‘Sparkle’ top.
Go check out Fetishguitars.com for an exhaustive look at EKO and the other classic Italian guitar makers.
