Talk About Old-School Cool…
As often happens with the internet, I was out cruising the usual music sites when I stumbled across what looks to be a real gem of an amplifier – the Atomic Space Tone, by the Swart Amplifier Company. I’m not even sure how I found my way to their website, but I’m sure glad that I did.
While it’s no secret that I’m a big fan of tube amps, and just about anything with retro-good-looks, the Atomic Space Tone is absolutely beyond the pale… it’s meticulously hand-made, it’s based around the incredibly tone-ful 6V6 tube, it sports a finger-jointed pine cabinet, and it’s loaded with all-tube circuitry – and I mean all-tube, including the reverb & tremolo units.
All you have to do is give a listen to the audio samples over on Swart’s website and you know you’re talking about a true tube dream machine.
Stay tuned! I’ll see if I can get one of these in for a hands-on review.
UPDATE: Swart has kindly agreed to send us an amp for review… hopefully we’ll have it up in the next few weeks. Check back!
