Sold! A two-of-a-kind NBA Finals themed Les Paul built by Gibson’s famous Custom Shop has sold in auction for the surprisingly (to me at least) low price of $4,800. Proceeds from the sale will go to NBA Cares – the NBA’s worldwide community outreach program which is dedicated to supporting education, youth & family, and health-related causes.
The custom guitar, which was the result of a partnership between the NBA and Gibson, was on-hand during the 2006 NBA Finals and hence sports signatures by Dwyane Wade, Clyde Drexler, Kiki Vandeweghe, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Tim Hardaway, and Tiny Archibald.
The NBA Finals Custom Shop Gibson Les Paul also features a certificate of authenticity, a stylized basketball graphic on the top, and of course a host of traditional Les Paul specs, including a pair of Gibson’s ’57 Classic Humbuckers, dual volume and tone controls, 3-way pickup switching, Grover “Rotomatic” tuners, nickel hardware across the board, and an ABR Tune-o-matic bridge.
A great guitar for a great cause… what more can you ask for?
