MyrareguitarsTrust me, if you’re not looking to absolutely destroy your productivity for the rest of the day then by all means do not follow this link over to My Rare Guitars.

Michael Robinson, the man behind Eastwood Guitars, and to whom we owe a huge debt of gratitude for recreating so many incredible old guitar designs, has a site that you could get lost in for the entire afternoon… and into the evening. His love for the bizarro guitar really shines through.

If, like me, you’re a sucker for photos of some of those long-lost vintage guitar beauties of the ’50s & ’60s (EKOs, Italias, Univox, and the like) then this site will be right up your alley. Go check it out, and don’t miss his 1960s Vintage Guitar page––what a collection!

Oh yeah, and it looks like we’ll be reviewing one of his gorgeous Eastwood guitars soon, so be sure to stay tuned. More on that when I get the details worked out.

  1. MICHAEL MCCARTHY Says:

I was given a guitar in 1978-9. It resembles a “Strat” shaped body and has built in effects(distortion, de’cay and vibrato) powered by 6 double “AA” batteries. It has a by-pass switch. I have looked every where to try to identify it but have had no success. I have never seen another one like it. I repaired the effects switches and they work perfectly. The neck was not only warped but also twisted. I saw no way to save it or repair it. I replaced the neck with a middle of the line “Fender” 1979-80 and it plays very well. In 1986 I was offered $1,700.00 dollars for it but refused. I still have it and play it regularly. Would you have any idea as to it’s maker and what value it would have?

    Thanks,

    Michael McCarthy
