I have a black S1 that I bought used in 1981. It has a rosewood neck and plays fantastic. By the time I got it, Grovers had been put on it. I describe it as Gibson's version of a strat.

I have a 1976 Gibson S1 that I purchased in early 1977 (my senior year in high school). It is black with a maple neck on the back, and some darker wood on the front. I am trying to figure out what this is, as I see on the internet that these guitars were made in various colors. I also have the original case, wish I would have kept the little tags that were on the guitar, but they didn't seem important at the time. I love my S1, Also, when reading about serial numbers, mine are different that what is usually listed, mine are: 1st line, S1, 2nd line, Made In USA, third line is the serial numbers which do begin with 00. I am also curious what my guitar may be worth.

I was wondering if you could send to me Gibson's ad on the top of the text?

By the way... great texts, great gadgets! Congratulations!

For what it's worth, I used to own a Marauder (about 30 years ago, gulp).

I seem to recall that the action was good, but I thought the sound was not so hot.

Long time ago though.
