According to their website B.C. Rich has released an imported, non-handcrafted version of their heavy duty ten-stringed behemoth––the Exotic Classic Bich 10––which was previously available only in a hand-made model.

Due to the original’s Custom Shop quality, until now the instrument has been pretty much out of the price range of most starving artists, with a street price of somewhere in the $3700 range. In contrast, the new version of the Exotic Classic Bich 10 is expected to sell for around $1,100.

The guitar features a unique 10-string layout, which consists of a traditional 6-string headstock set-up, plus an extra 4 strings that are strung backwards and terminated at the bottom edge of the body (wow, I wonder how long that takes to get used to!) Koa & Maple woods give the guitar its “Exotic” moniker and classy good looks.

The guitar apparently comes in two different varieties: Koa with contrasting Maple stringers, or Spalted Maple with contrasting Ebony stringers.
