Quick Note…
A few weeks back when Gibson announced its new Les Paul BFG, they made reference to the fact that the guitar was meant to bring traditional Les Paul tone & performance to the teaming masses––without the traditional hefty Les Paul price tag.
While Gibson didn’t publish an MSRP at the time (at least not that I could find,) this morning over at music123.com I noticed they are taking pre-orders on the Les Paul BFG, and the price they are asking is just $969 on all three models (Trans Gold, Trans Black, and Trans Cherry.)
Of course it’s too early to tell how popular this latest addition to the Les Paul family will become, but I’m currently betting that it will be another big hit for Gibson. Many would say (myself included) that’s it’s about time Gibson produced something a bit sexier in the sub-$1000 Les Paul market.
Will the Les Paul BFG be it? Who knows… but I’m guessing they don’t call it the “stripped-down, rock ’n’ roll flamethrower” for nothin’ ; )

I personally don’t see the point of the “kill switch”. It seems superfluous.
