The only modification I have made on mine is I insulated the cavity with copper foil due to a lot of static hum. I got mine a few years ago from maker for $499.00. Love it-plays great now

Hey Dan,

Not being a Luthier or Guitar Tech I can't say there was anything I would have filed down or shaved off ; ) but if I owned one of these myself I would probably ultimately upgrade the tuners to something with locks.

That said, part of the charm of the Bohemian is definitely its vintage funkiness, so while those plastic pickup sliders may be rather cheap (you know, the little black square ones like you used to find on electronics back in the '70s) they really help make the guitar what it is, and I wouldn't feel any need to replace them.

Of course, it's all subjective... I try hard to keep in mind an instrument's price-tag when writing up a review (ie, so I'm not comparing apples & oranges... or Squiers & Fenders, so to speak)

With that in mind the mini-humbuckers didn't put out quite as much juice as the Seymour Duncan's on my ESP, but they were still pretty spunky. That said, they worked passably in tap mode, but could have been better. Once again, for the price they sounded great.

Hope that helps. I wouldn't purchase the bohemian looking for an $800 guitar, but it felt like a steal at $350.

Cary,
Did you find anything that you would have upgraded, filed down, shaved off...you know the drill...? And did the pups seem to have decent harmonic output, you know, lively?
