The TonePort UX2 is Line 6′s mid-level USB interface for easily porting guitar, vocals, and other line-level audio signals into your computer.
Besides the hardware pictured here, the TonePort comes bundled with Line 6′s GearBox––a software package for both PC & Mac that produces impressive digital amplifier, cabinet, and effects modeling.
Among other things the UX2 hardware includes two 1/4“ guitar or bass inputs (standard & high-gain versions,) two standard XLR mic inputs with +48V of phantom power, headphone output with its own volume control, stereo 1/4” outputs for studio monitors, stereo digital RCA outputs, and assignable backlit VU meters for monitoring input, output, record send, or monitor levels.
The GearBox software features digital recreations of 18 guitar amplifiers (including easy-to-use amp front-panel style navigation,) 24 speaker cabinets, 5 bass amplifier and cabinet models, 30 stompboxes and studio rack effects, and 6 microphone pre-amp models (for recording high-quality vocals.)
You can expect a full review in the next few weeks, but I’ll tell you right now that I’m highly impressed with the quality of recording that’s possible via the TonePort UX2 & GearBox… for the price (hovering around $199 at time of writing) it’s fairly unbelievable.
