Wow… PRS is expected to debut a whopping eight new guitar models at this month’s Winter NAMM ’07 Conference in Anaheim, including three new three double cutaway instruments, and five single cutaways (the PRS SE One is shown here.)
I’m actually really glad to seem them branching out from their traditional style (even if it’s just a bit,) as I’ve always been entranced by the sheer playability of PRS guitars, but I’ve never really liked the highly fluid, rather modern look of their instruments. The new SE One, however, is a different matter entirely.
Take a good look at that single soapbar pickup, sunburst finish, and unique pickguard shape, and it becomes obvious that with the SE One PRS is looking to capitalize on the recent re-interest in Gibson’s classic Les Paul Junior––a guitar that’s been made cool all over again by contemporary players like Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and others (see our coverage of the Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Guitar.)
Other new guitars from PRS include the 513 Rosewood Model (now with a mahogany neck,) Chris Henderson Signature Model, Mark Tremonti Signature Model for 2007, SC 250, SC 245, Semi-Hollow SE Custom Option, and the New SE Paul Allender Model.
