Well, I have yet to see any kind of official press release, but Fender have apparently released three new guitars for 2007, including the one pictured here––Fender’e new Vintage Hot Rod ’52 Telecaster.
There isn’t a lot of information available, but the guitar appears to be a seriously upgraded remake of the ’52 Tele, with some extra bells & whistles thrown in for good measure, including a vintage-style Tele bridge with three compensated brass saddles (for better intonation,) and a one-piece maple neck (9.5“ fingerboard radius) backed with a satin finish for easier playing.
Other features include Fender’s ‘Thin-Skin’ nitrocellulose lacquer finish, premium ash body, maple fretboard with 21 MJ frets, Seymour Duncan Vintage Mini Humbucker at the neck & Custom Vintage Tele pickup at the bridge, 3-way pickup switching, master volume & tone controls, Fender/Gotoh Vintage Style Tuners, and chrome hardware.
The Vintage Hot Rod ’52 Telecaster comes with a tweed hardcase, and is expected to fetch a street price of around $1,600.00.
