I was surprised by my mom, who I was helping shop for her own guitar, when she decided to buy this guitar for me, “Just for the hell of it!”

Beautiful guitar…aren’t all Gibsons!? Awesome finish, classy retro-vibe with the gold tophat knobs and green tuning keys. Cream coloured pickup bezels are a nice vintage touch, and the 60′s style neck allows for fast, comfortable playability. I played this guitar through a Fender amp at the store using a clean channel and it produced some very warm, singing tones. When I got home I plugged into my Marshall and looped through a Digitech Metal Master and got some really aggressive and brutal hard rock tones…Very versatile guitar! I strongly recommend this piece to anyone in the market! You WON’T be disappointed!!!

I have had this 30th aniversary Les paul for many years now .It was used by Phil Collen from Def Lepard,when he produced and played on our second album On The Edge.This Gold Top beauty has never let us down in the studio ever.What a tone,and i remember Phil saying,its the best one he had heard and played.We have used it again on neary every track on the new record,and an SG 60s Vintage.Thank god for Gibson.From Craig.BB STEAL Australia.

I have one of these. My wife bought it for me for our 10 year wedding anniversary. She bought me a Les Paul Custom for our 5th year anniversary. The guitar plays like a dream, is much lighter and brighter than my custom and the finish is beautiful.

I bought one and i must tell you it really plays nice and the fireburst finish is much nicer then the pictures. I paid 1899 and started jamming a little Warren Haynes as soon as i got home. It is not some cheap sales pitch. I would recomded it to anyone. Lost Cause

My local dealer (http://www.guitargallery.tv) sold one on Friday, and is getting another one tomorrow (Tues. Feb 13) – which I will promptly suck up at the price of $1700.00!!! He’s the best deal around (if you live in W. Pennsylvania. You can also get one from sweetwater (http://www.sweetwater.com) but they’re going for $1,999.00 there.

I’m finding myself a bit torn on the issue… on the one hand I find it a bit repulsive that a company can produce a “collector’s item” just by limiting the supply… on the other hand, they wouldn’t be selling if people weren’t buying, so I can’t really argue with market demand.

One upside I currently see is that it seems Gibson will be pricing these in line with the models they are based on, which means that IF a person is already in the market for such an instrument, now they have the option of getting something a little different (new finishes, etc,) without paying out the nose.

That is, of course, if you don’t already consider Gibson’s guitar pricing to be ‘out the nose.’
