Well J5 himself collects Teles from all decades. I really like the less retro & time correct but more creative design approach on this one here. To my taste the neck perfectly fits the body and pickguard from an aesthetic point of view, but the 3 humbuckers make it monsterous and the switch tip is somehow lost on upper pickguard..So I really think this axe looks interesting, but not perfect..concerning the sound: this guitar is not as warm sounding due to its enhanced frequency range. So you really need EQs n stuff to make it sound like a 7ties Tele..but hey that was not the intention for this guitar here..J5 now plays for White Zombie!!!!!

I really like this one! Sportin! Only wish it had a Tele headstock-- a Tele should have a Tele headstock.

Anyone know any differences between the current wide range humbuckers and the original design?

Hehe... I thought the same thing about the original J5 Bigsby, but that monsterous thing has been in production since 2003!

Wouldn't be surprised if that disappears from Fender's production line in a few months. There's unconventional, then there's REALLY unconventional.
