Apparently following in the footsteps of parent company Fender, Gretsch has announced a “Relic” version of their newly updated Anniversary Model, to be produced in an extremely limited run of just 75 instruments.
According to their website the G6118T-R-CST Custom “Relic” Double Anniversary (I sure wish they’d come up with a better naming convention,) will be based on the ‘59 Annie––sporting the same “vintage correct” two-tone Smoke Green finish, albeit with the now popular Relic treatment, including strategically aged cosmetics to simulate the minor wear & tear of a well taken care of fifty-year-old guitar.
Other stand-out features will include a laminated maple hollow body with trestle bracing, two-piece maple neck/w tapered heel, ebony fretboard with 22 MJ frets (12” radius,) an authentic Bigsby B6C vibrato tailpiece, two TV Jones TV Classic pickups, Space-Control bridge, a real bone nut, and Grover Sta-Tite tuners.
The guitar will also bear a commemorative plate on the front of the headstock, while the back will include a Gretsch Custom Shop logo and will be signed by Senior Master Builder Stephen Stern. No word on pricing.

[…] Electric Guitar Review: Gretsch To Produce Just 75 Limited Edition Relic Annies This is basically a “Relic” version of the Double Anniversary, no big surprise given Fender’s love of making “relic” guitars and charging more for them. I have a Gretsch 6120 that I love; Gretsch makes truly great guitars, and I’m sure this will be no exception. Still, does it have to be a reilc? Here’s an idea: buy a guitar and play it until it’s “relic-ed” by your hands. -Petey […]
