Just a few days after lifting the veil on their new Warren Haynes Les Paul Standard, Gibson has announced yet another addition to their popular Inspired By series––the Limited Edition Johnny A. Standard.
While Johnny A. collaborated with Gibson back in 2003 to create his original Signature Model guitar, the Inspired By Johnny A. Standard is being marketed as a more affordable version of the instrument (about $900 less than the original,) and bears a few minor changes, including a carved mahogany top, cream binding (neck, headstock & body,) nickel hardware, and custom acrylic headstock and fretboard inlays.
Other features of the guitar will include a single-piece mahogany back and sides, single-piece mahogany neck with Johnny A. custom rounded/slim profile (25 1/2“ scale length,) rosewood fretboard with 22 frets, dual ‘57 Classic humbuckers, dual volume & tone controls, 3-way pickup switching, ABR-1 bridge, and either a Bigsby vibrato or traditional stopbar tailpiece.
The Limited Edition Johnny A. Standard will ship with an alligator case, and will be available in both Ginger (shown,) and Sunset Glow finishes.
Check out the video demo of the guitar on Gibson’s website as well… looks like a sweet axe.

[…] Electric Guitar Review: Gibson Announces Limited Edition Johnny A. Standard I’m so torn about this. I mean, the regular and historic Johnny As look awesome, but cost $3000+. This one is nearly 1/3 cheaper, but looks like a old Teisco or Kent hollowbody. Wait, actually, I’m not torn at all. I’m just mad. Why the hell are these guitars so expensive? Not even Gibson’s page can give me an answer. -Petey […]
