At this year’s Winter NAMM show in Anaheim, Line 6, arguably the world’s top manufacturer of digital modeling gear, updated its line of multi-effects/modeling pedals with the introduction of their new Floor POD Plus––billed as a single “road-ready” unit to cover all of your guitar’s signal processing needs.
The Floor POD Plus apparently builds on the success of Line 6′s popular POD 2.0, bringing together all of the latter’s sounds, plus an extra dose of new “premium” effects. In fact, according to their website the pedal includes digitally modeled versions of a whopping 32 different amp models, 16 classic cabinets, 16 modulation effects (all the usual suspects here,) 6 delays, and two types of reverb.
Of course, I’ve been keeping an eye out for some good demos, and Line 6 now has a full range of audio samples, as well as a video demonstration, posted on their website––though the video demo leaves a bit to be desired (could be a bit more in-depth, IMHO.)
Anyways, they’re definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for some digital modeling wizardry, or even if you just want to see what all the hoopla is about… I’ve been using some Line 6 products at home, and while I certainly won’t be tossing out my tube amps anytime soon, when it’s done right digital modeling has a lot to offer in the way of decent tone at a very decent price.
