Well, its mid-week again, and that means it’s time for another Guitar Of The Week announcement from Gibson. The latest member of the clan looks to be aimed squarely at the head banger demographic––the new Explorer Pro in Heritage Cherry.
Based on Gibson’s classic Explorer design, but with a smaller, lighter-weight mahogany body and heavy duty “hot” humbuckers, the Explorer Pro is pretty much built for power (read: metal.) However, this latest Guitar Of The Week edition is unique in that it sports Gibson’s gorgeous Heritage Cherry lacquer finish.
Other features will include a mahogany neck (24 3/4-inch scale length), rosewood fretboard with 22 frets, dot inlays, antique top & fretboard binding, amber “top hat” knobs, Grover tuning machines, 496R ceramic magnet humbucker at the neck, 500T ceramic magnet humbucker at the bridge, dual volume controls, single tone control, and 3-way pickup switching.
The Explorer Pro in Heritage Cherry will be available in a limited edition of 400 units, and is expected to ship with a hard reptile case with white plush interior.
