The following is a guest-post by Mike Withrow.
There’s a great story about George Harrison’s Solid Rosewood Telecaster that he played on Let It Be and the Beatles’ rooftop concert. It was flown and hand delivered to the Beatles’ Abbey Road studios in London from Fender Guitar headquarters in the U.S. as a special gift. The guitar recently sold in auction for just under $450,000.
That was the introduction to a very limited production run of only 500 all rosewood solid body Telecasters that Fender produced that year in 1968. Recently Fender’s Custom Shop did a limited edition re-issue of the same guitar.
