You know me––I’m a sucker for a guitar giveaway, and this one is better than most.

According to a page that went up one their website this afternoon, Fender will be giving away the actual Custom Shop Master-Built Strat that John Mayer is using extensively on this Summer’s Continuum Tour.

Currently there aren’t any specs available, but I think it’s safe to assume that this beauty will turn out to be one serious player’s instrument, not to mention a true collector’s item.

Breaking away from their usual contest rules, Fender is requiring that you create a Fender.com Profile to be eligible to win.

New Limited Edition John Mayer Stratocaster

At the same time, Fender announced the upcoming release of a new strictly Limited Edition John Mayer Signature Strat model, which will be produced in a run of just 500 guitars, and will sport a custom Cypress Mica finish and matching gig bag.

Second prize winner in the contest will receive one of these new Limited Edition models signed my Mayer himself.
