Gibson Giving Away ‘Series Inspired’ Mongolian Chop Squad Les Paul Cary Aug 10th

Beck Les Paul GiveawayOK, I guess I’m letting my geekdom show today… Gibson is giving away a Les Paul inspired by the Japanese Anime Series “Beck - Mongolian Chop Squad,” and whether you’re an anime fan or not, you’ll just have to trust me when I say that you definitely want to check it out, ‘cuz the guitar is drop dead gorgeous.

You can learn more about the ––or if you’re a really geeky Japanophile like myself you can check out ––but either way, you’ll probably want to at least sign-up for a chance to win that stunning Les Paul (Sorry, Deadline Now Passed.)

Fortunately, Gibson appears to have left out the bullet holes.

  1. Les Pauls:

    Very cool. I’m a anime-nerd.. and I’m psyched to see this! J

  2. Billy Beck:

It’s a split-hair variation on a guitar that’s been in production for fifty years, and it looks like about a half-a-bezillion Les Pauls I’ve ever seen.

    What’s so gorgeous about it?

    I don’t understand this.

  3. Cary:

Sorry if my post confused you Billy, but I never suggested that it was custom, or unique––I simply stated that it was gorgeous.

Beauty is of course in the eye of the beholder.

  4. tremspeeed:

there is also a japan-only Beck. telecaster model. possibly the first time the ‘big two’ have made products for the same, well, ok anime series.

  5. Cary:

Ooh, a Beck Tele? I’ll definitely have to look into that.

  6. Rick:

    shhhhhhhh

Stop telling people. I want that guitar ;)

BTW, Beck is one of the better Anime series I’ve seen this year. Great story. One of the times where the anime is much better than the manga. :)

  7. Chris M.:

I much prefer the manga. That way I can leave the characters’ voices and how the bands sound up to my imagination. That being said the Beck Tele was a really nice blonde color and was an actual limited production model. This one which is just a regular Les Paul probably donated for a giveaway. It’d be like Gretsch giving away a White Falcon or Ernie Ball giving away a Stingray. The bullet holes would have made it seem more like an actual model done for Beck. Looked nice in person though.
