Howdy
I like line 6 stuff, it's reliable and sounds amazing. The video streaming on their site is crap but that does not detract from the quality of the product. I have used an POD xt live professionally for 3 years , it has never let me down. I intend to buy the spider valve head very shortly and replace my JCM 2000 DSL head which has only ever caused problems. I also use a Randall RH model, I have gone through 3 of these. The Spider valve head must be more reliable than that. Marshall have lived off their name for the last 15 years, nothing new, same ole, same ole, I do love the MR 1960 A cabs and will continue to use these with my spider valve. Line 6 cabs are poorly manufactured in my opinion so for me the perfect match is the spider valve with 2 mr 1960A 300W cabs.

Wolfman, many of us have home recording setups... short of that, you might try a decent pair of monitors for your computer.

I use M-Audio monitors, and they run about $150.

I know that one can never tell everything about an amp from mp3 and video clips, but the videos made the Spider-Valve sound no better than the Spider III. No better than the FloorPOD. I have heard better sounding clips on the 'net, so it can be done. They should take more care when making these videos, or make a better sounding product. Who knows, maybe the tubes impart that 'feel' that just won't come through a clip. And why don't the line6 videos load like youtube videos, so you can pause the playback while the thing loads, and then get good playback after loading? it's not like the technology doesn't exist, it's on youtube!

I thought the tones were tasty. The video streaming left a lot to be desired. DJ Ashba definitely needs a haircut. Bottom line to me is you have a lineup of great guitar players using great guitars, so how bad were the tones going to be through just about any amp?

Either way I'm going to go and see Michael Ripoli if he ever performs in a town near me. That guy has game.

Well, I have seen the video, IMO sounds good, for that bluesy music. I am not into blues but of course, once in a while I like to jam a bit. Sounds nice, anyway

Yeah, I remember that cartoon about that hybrid amp that solved crimes. How'd it go again? "Spider-Valve, Spider-Valve, does whatever a Spider can. But with valves."

Line 6 has the worst video streaming. Maybe it's cause this is a brand new, in-demand video, maybe they're just THAT popular, but I always seem to encounter crappy playback and lonngg load times. Doesn't seem to happen at other sites.

I don't know how much these amps are supposed to be, but they don't sound that different from their usual stuff, at least going by the video.
