For about 1/10 of that you can get a shiny new American built SRV model from the Fender Custom Shop. And if you treat your ax like I treat mine, it will stay that way for a long time. Personally, I can't see any reason to pay extra for any guitar that has purposely been made to look old, worn, or beat up. Oh well, it's your hard earneed money. While it was awesome to be in the room with all of those beautiful old guitars, I realized that for 95% of the guitar-playing population, paying $30 grand for an old, beat up Strat is...probably insane! He said it was awesome to behold, suprisingly light (felt like the neck was the same weight as the body), and the pickups sounded excellent. He also said he was nervous to play it and afraid he might drop it! I guess it helps market regular everyday Fender Stratocasters (any press is good press!), not that Fender needs help in that regard anyway. Sad that normal Mom and Pop shops that we all *should* be frequenting are left out of many of these "press events". It’s hard to get excited about such an expensive limited edition guitar.
