Epiphone Unveils Prophecy Line Of Custom Guitars Cary Feb 29th

Epiphone-Prophecy-GuitarEpiphone today unveiled an entirely new line of custom guitars––called the series––that apparently includes eight different models; two each of the Les Paul, SG, Futura EX, and EM-2.

So what exactly is the common thread between these instruments?

According to Epiphone, the Prophecy guitars all feature highly-figured quilted maple tops, SpeedTaper satin necks, 24 jumbo-sized frets, unique bladed inlays, hand-stained finishes, and Epi’s new “patent applied for” straplocks (how do you improve on a straplock?)

The Prophecy instruments also come in three different flavors––FX (with original Floyd Rose trem,) EX (with active EMG or EpiActive pickups,) and GX (sporting real Gibson USA humbuckers.)

For more info, including full specs, you can check out Epiphone’s , or register for a chance to win a Prophecy Futura EX over on .

  1. Tom L:

Aesthetically they’ve done a really nice job. These Epi guitars look great — and they look different from the rest of the Epi/Gibson product line, which is a great marketing idea. The micro site is also nice, although I didn’t see any audio/video samples, which to me is a shortcoming.

The question is…how good are these guitars?

  2. Rick:

I wonder if these are Japanese, Chinese, or Korean Epi’s.

  3. Mike V.:

I’m sure these are made in the Chinese plant that is supposedly run by Gibson.

    Wow, those are pretty hot.

The SG GX is going for $549 at GC, so that might give you some idea where they are making them, based on other Epi’s at that price point.

  5. Tim:

I need a little more wood to rest my wrist on.
