Making ends meet sucks! When I moved back to the USA from Australia, I sold most of my guitars….including a 70′s era Ibanez Artist John Scofield that I played all through college. Selling it broke my heart. As well as a Ramirez Concert Classical that had incredible round over tones…. Both priceless…but I needed the cash to get settled back home with the family post-internet bubble, and it wasn’t practical to ship them back.

I hear ya brother.
Since living here in LA,CA I’ve sold two Les Pauls and more pedals than you can shake a guitar cord at.

A particularly low point in my life… sold my ES-335 and my beloved Fender Twin to help make ends meet while I was living in Portland.

I think it was worse than a break-up ;)

Yeah, that remains a great mystery… I’m guessing we’ll see the Joan Jett model at some point as a “Inspired By” model, and that when I discovered it last year some employee had just accidentally uploaded it to the wrong part of Gibson’s website.

If I remember correctly, the product page disappeared within hours of me finding it.

Looks great! Can’t wait to hear your experiences with the SG. I’ve often considered buying an SG, but so far I’ve been able to hold off. Maybe this will send me over the edge ;)

You’re going to love it.
I have one from 2006 exactly like that, but they called it the “Classic”.
Same full gloss, bound fretboard, etc..
It’s a wonderful guitar. It was my first Gibson.
Honestly, if you had to own just one SG, that should probably be the one.
You can get similar tones like a Standard out of a humbucker Les Paul.
Little fatter on the LP, of course, but you know what I mean.. :)

Cary, this guitar will rock. I said a while back on tubefreaks that P-90s are the best pickups ever created (based on my Les Paul special). I still believe that.

Can’t wait to see the pics and get your review. I bet your other guitars will stay in their cases for a while!
