Well, it’s been nearly a year since rumors first started flying around the web about Gibson producing this beast, but the latest news coming out of Nashville is that the company is now releasing a strictly limited run of just 50 Inspired By Zakk Wylde ZV Buzzsaw guitars.
Looking like some kind of twisted SG/Flying V hybrid from hell (yeah, it’s not going to win any marks for subtlety,) the ZV Buzzsaw comes loaded with a pair of active EMG 81/85 humbuckers, dual volume controls, single tone control, black hardware, a 3-piece maple neck with plain oil finish, and of course that insane orange and black Buzzsaw pattern graphic.
Other features include a strings-through-body V-shaped tailpiece, Nashville Tune-o-matic bridge, black Grover tuners, LP Custom headstock, Custom-grade pearl block inlays, bound ebony fretboard with 22 Jumbo frets, and a solid mahogany body (19“ wide x 24 1/2” long x 1 5/8“ thick.)
No word on pricing for this strictly Limited Edition run, but the guitar will apparently ship with a Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case, and Certificate of Authenticity signed by Zakk Wylde.

Good thing they’re only making 50 of these hideous monsters! That way, we won’t have to see many of them!

Hehe… yeah, pretty grotesque instrument… but hella’ rock & roll!

Perfect for a Guitar Hero controller!

Looks bizarre with that classic Gibson headstock. Not that it would look good with any other headstock…but I’m just saying…

They should leave this kind of crap to the likes of ESP and Dean.

Dean makes this already, they call it the SplitTail.

Correct.
And they are both ugly.

I think I’m the only one to like that shape… :D I don’t like the bevelled edges on the V part, though, and the finish is awful (a nice wine red would be much better). But overall, I wouldn’t mind owning one.

Interesting, but seriously this is a Gibson version of the Dean Splittail. Instead of “Inspired by ZW” it should be “Inspired by Dean Guitars”
By the way if you guys are looking for free guitar ebooks, check out our website at http://www.freeguitarebooks.com you won’t be disappointed!

Yes, and the Dean Splittail is a combo ripoff of the Gibson Flying V and SG, so the Splittail should be marketed as “Inspired by 45-year-old Gibson designs.”
Could be we’ve run out of new ideas for guitar shapes? And as timeless as body styles such as the Les Paul and Strat have proven to be, do we care?

Hahaha, LOL. Tom, you kill me :)

I think its sweet looking but I’m not a fan of SGs. I can’t stand the action. However, it does have a spideresque look about it.

LOOK LIKE SPLITTAIL

It was Zakk Wylde’s personal design. Dean made it for him first because Gibson wouldn’t make it, calling it the “Splittail”. Gibson BEGGED for Zakk to return to them, so they made him the guitar out of desperation calling it the “ZV”. Of course, he stayed with Gibson.
Love the dean headstock on it better than the gibson one. I’d rather have the Dean original. :) Better paintjob on the Dean too. This is horrible…
