You can get a vintage Gibson l-00 in very good to excellent condition for around $4-6K. (I know because I bought one.) Why anybody would buy a reissue at nearly $7K list is beyond me. In my experience, while new Gibsons are good guitars, they don't measure up (yet) to the sound of the old ones (although I'm sure there are some old duds out there).

My dream acoustic guitar is actually an Epiphone Emporer Regent. I'm not much for acousktic guitars in general, and even less of a fan of soundhole acoustics, so the ER fits in with my love of the archtop and the acoustic sound is really nice. I wrote a small review for it on my blog and even included a video to show off some of the tone (or what could be captured by my camera).
