Wow, I definitely didn’t see this one coming… while I was on vacation Gibson appears to have released yet another Custom Shop version of their iconic SG double-neck EDS-1275 –– this time a re-creation of the instrument Don Felder played on The Eagles’ classic ‘Hotel California’. Like other recent replicas to come out of Gibson’s [...]

Here’s another of my favorites from the Bay Area World Guitar Show –– it’s a vintage ’69 Telecaster (ash body/ blonde finish/3-ply white pickguard) with an original Fender-branded Bigsby B5 unit… a good looking guitar, and really not a bad price for its era. They were asking $4500, and probably could have gotten closer to [...]

While we’re on the subject… it looks like Fender is currently reproducing its incredibly rare Broadcaster in a high-end Custom Shop ‘Relic’ model –– apparently the first time the guitar has been reproduced bearing its original logo. With just 200-some of the original Broadcasters built before Fender received its famous request from Gretsch to cease [...]

Honestly, I can’t believe this beautiful Jaguar was selling for just $2500, and for me it was incredibly hard to walk away from… unfortunately, I felt that way far too many times over the weekend –– so many guitars, so little cash! Someday I know I will kick myself for not picking this one up.

After writing about it a few weeks back I’ve received a number of inquiries about Fender’s unique new Snake Head Telecaster, so I thought I’d point out that this Limited Edition Tele appears to finally be showing up in stores. The guitar, which is part of Fender’s “Telebration” celebrating 60 years since the introduction of [...]

Wow… so this retro beauty is apparently the latest addition to Fender’s Time Machine series of guitars. I don’t know about you, but Sea Foam has always been one of my all-time favorite Fender finishes, and with this Strat the Custom Shop has taken it even a step farther –– with an NOS (New Old [...]

While we’re on the subject of Fender’s famous Custom Shop, here’s yet another new line of guitars that have sprung up quietly in recent weeks –– the Vintage Pro 1956 Stratocaster NOS. Like the Vintage Pro 1963 Teles mentioned last week, these new Strats were built to look, sound, and indeed handle, like a 1956 [...]
